The new Mercedes-Benz R-Class is no ordinary car. It is not even one car, but rather a variety of automobile concepts: an estate car for your sports gear or music instruments, a van to load the antique beauty you just acquired from the public auction, a sports saloon to go to diner, or an SUV when things get really serious.

Thanks to the tuning and refining made by Carlsson, the R 320 CDI can give you now even more than all those qualities combined: individuality and uniqueness, even amongst other Mercedes-Benz R-Class owners!

Engine tuning, special design wheels, stainless-steel rear silencers, different suspension setting, aerodynamic kit... up to the special carlsson leather. Just pick and choose.

Carlsson C-Tronic® Diesel POWER performance kit - First, it is not a secret that such a spacious... 4.922- or 5.157-metre long 'spaceship' (two body length versions), needs plenty of power. In other words, a lot of weight has to be moved.

Hence, drivers of the new R 320 CDI will appreciate the additional power of 269 bhp/198 kW (+45 bhp, instead of the original 224 bhp / 165 kW of the R320 CDI). According to Carlsson, a maximum torque of 612 Nm is generated at 1800 rpm, compared to the original 510 Nm/ 1600 - 2800 of the model (+102 Nm).

Of course, for its own sake, power is not a virtue. Safety makes it useful. That is why Carlsson embeds this power with added safety and reliability: correction maps ensure that reserves of the engine are only used when the temperature is in the safe operating zone. The straight-forward installation of the supplementary control unit is also interesting for the customer to avoid long waiting times. With today's common plug-and-play culture, it can be installed quite quickly and, if required, can also be rebuilt.

Then come the other facets of added safety for the additional power and torque, like the translation of power to the road. Yes, wheels and tyres.

Ultra Light - That's where come first the new Carlsson wheel design 3/11 Ultra Light, shown for the first time last autumn at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany (IAA). The 3-piece, 11-spoke forged wheel has been adjusted especially for larger vehicles.

The new wheel design was shown at the recent Essen Motor Show in Germany, in the dimension of 11x23” (front and rear axles) with a 315/25 ZR23 tyre (read more about the Carlsson Ultra Light wheels series).

Brilliant Edition - A tempting alternative to the wheel design 3/11 Ultra Light would be the new wheel design 1/11 Brilliant Edition. The cast, one-piece, 11-spoke aluminium wheel has been designed especially for the new Mercedes-Benz models to blend with their lines, without changing the discrete character of the car. In Essen the 1/11 BE was displayed in the dimension 9.5x20” (front and rear axles) fitted with a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 295/40 ZR20 tyre (read more about the Carlsson Brilliant Edition wheels series).

Suspension - Between power and wheels/tyres, an intelligent suspension lowering can do another big difference. That's where the Carlsson C-Tronic® Suspension lowers the Mercedes-Benz R-Class based CD32 by approx. 30 mm. Besides the more dynamic look, the lowering of the car reduces roll and thus results in even more precise handling.

Silencers - At the back of the Mercedes-Benz R-Class based CD32, the rear view is dominated by the Carlsson sports rear silencers with four tail pipes, which do not only impress by a sportier and sonorous sound but also, compared to the standard system, are optimised in exhaust back pressure and pipe routing and thus lead to greater low-end torque.

Aerodynamic kit - More than just good looking, the Carlsson aerodynamic kit nearly metamorphoses the CD32, with its easy to fit front-spoiler lip, and the new Carlsson rear-apron insert.

All components of this small 'package' form an ideal basis for the R-Class driver who wants improved handling and sportier looks for the biggest automobile in the Mercedes-Benz range. This optimum interaction of the individual components brings about a noticeable reduction in lift concerning the R-Class.

Leather - Since the new R-Class offers plenty of space to driver and passengers, traveling can become even more exclusive with the Carlsson leather furnishing, available in a variety of colour and leather combinations, especially with the ergonomic Carlsson sports steering wheel in leather/leather, to make longer distances seem quite shorter.
