Carlsson C-Tronic product range of ECUs
More power and torque, less consumption
For all Mercedes-Benz Common Rail diesel

Carlsson C-Tronic® Diesel POWER

Control unit and plug-and-play adaptor to insert into the original ECU.

Motion Trends, PR
13th January 2006.

The name Carlsson C-Tronic stands for electronic control units used in connection diesel engines, superchargers or turbochargers (in the case of conversions) and active or semi-active suspension systems whereby the C-Tronic control units supplement the standard control unit.

All C-Tronic control units are equipped with extensive safety functions and plausibility checks to ensure maximum operational safety.

The hardware and software of the C-Tronic control units have been developed by Carlsson so that, in addition to the Carlsson warranty, customers can be sure of maximum performance and safety at a very attractive price.

With the C-Tronic® Diesel POWER, Carlsson offers 20% more performance and torque for all Mercedes Common Rail diesel engines from the A to the S Class.

Consisting of a control unit and a plug-and-play adaptor that is simply inserted into the original engine control unit, this C-Tronic control unit uses all necessary signals from the standard control unit to calculate optimum values for the fuel volume and the best injection time.

To ensure maximum safety for both driver and vehicle, the C-Tronic Diesel POWER is equipped with correction maps that ensure the engine's reserves are only used under safe operational conditions. Accordingly, the control unit monitors the cooling-water temperature and only permits the increased power to be generated when the cooling-water temperature is between 65°C and 100°C. Moreover, two microprocessors ensure that the optimum settings are chosen regardless of operating conditions.

On the other hand, C-Tronic Diesel ECO comes with reduced consumption and more torque With it, Carlsson has developed a supplementary control unit that enables drivers of Mercedes-Benz diesel models to cut their fuel consumption by around 10 %. At the same time, they profit from an increase of approx. 15 % in torque coupled with no change in rated output.

This increase in torque causes the automatic transmission to change up earlier or, in the case of steep downhill sections, to change down later.

The resulting reduction in engine speeds and the associated lower-rev style of driving leads to a drop of up to 10 % in fuel consumption.

Driving tests and standardised TUV measurements confirm Carlsson's figures in practice. At the same time, the approx. 15 % increase in torque means better pulling power throughout the entire torque band and, therefore, safer acceleration, e.g., when overtaking, coupled with greater driving pleasure.
