Wider Seat Leon with power boost
JE DESIGN wing doors and wheels

Wider body, wing doors and a new turbo-charged 2.0-litre petrol engine.

Motion Trends,
6th February 2006.

VW Group's "Latin" brand can get wider and hotter. I can even get... wing doors, like other much dearer "raging bulls", from the same VW group for instance.

That's what JE DESIGN's complete aerodynamics suite “Wide Body” and LSD wing doors can bring to SEAT's Leon hatchback, with a "pepper hot" power boost to approx. 180 kW / 244 bhp and 355 Nm.

Well, you guessed. This couldn't be complete without appropriate "tennis shoes": 18 inch set of wheels “Visage”. That's the visible face, and there's more, with the coil-over suspension.

But first things first.

A 32 percent gain in horsepower, and 31.5 percent additional torque.

Hardly six months since the release of the first complete conversion kit, JE DESIGN well-known as a SEAT tuning specialist, is now presenting the highlight of its Leon suite: a  wider body, wing doors and a new turbo-charged petrol engine.

The direct injection TFSI engine, which VW has recently started to fit, promises a great deal of tuning potential.

By means of modification to the engine management system, JE DESIGN squeezes 180/(244) kW/(bhp) and 355 Nm from this two-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which otherwise generates 136/(185) kW/(bhp) and 270 Nm in the quieter, standard Seat Leon.

A coil-over suspension allows to lower the body between 35 and 65 mm.

That's a 32 percent gain in horsepower, and 31.5 percent additional torque.

This power boost enables the agile Spaniard to race along 21 km/h faster than the standard version.

More impressive (and more useful normally) than the top speed of 242 km/h is acceleration. 6.4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 instead of the standard 7.8 sec. That's 17.9 percent briefer.

The acceleration boost comes complete with a TÜV parts certificate, and the engine still complies with the EI regulations.

Since everything is not power and torque, Seat's Leon gets a mightier visual look too, with JE DESIGN's wide body conversion kit.

It starts off comparatively tamely at the front with a new front grille. Headlight lens covers lend a more serious “look”. However, real business starts at the side-mounted body styling elements, as JE DESIGN fits a 10-piece wheel arch extension kit, which enables the Leon to fill out any rear-view mirror that little bit more than usual. A set of side sills completes the tuning on the sides.

In addition, JE DESIGN’s front spoiler and the boot-lid rear spoiler produce a lift-reducing effect.

Rear apron can be used with 4-pipe stainless steel rear silencer.

The rear view is rounded off by the JE-DESIGN rear apron attachment, which can be used both with the standard-fitted rear silencer as well as the awesome-sounding 4-pipe rear silencer specially produced in stainless steel by JE DESIGN. The latter features two dual tailpipes (diameter 90 mm).

To lend an even more stylish look, chrome can boost the visual feel with the 4-piece JE-DESIGN B-post decoration "3 D Chrom" with chrome inlays including a rear door surround. Complementing this is the set of door handle surrounds in addition to the trim panel for the lower boot lid edge.

JE DESIGN goes further in adapting the broader Seat Leon to its new status, with a coil-over suspension, which allows to lower the body between 35 and 65 mm, depending on the driver’s individual taste.

After all these power and visual modifications, standard wheel rims might look a bit... odd. To complement the stronger personality, the JE DESIGN Seat Leon can get the proprietary set of wheels VISAGE (2-piece rim design with titanium bolts) in the dimension 10 x 18 ET 31 with size 255/35 ZR 18 tyres.
