Mazda MX-5 and VW Polo
With LSD easy-fix wing doors fittings

Like other trendy car models such as the Honda Civic and the Renault Clio, the new Mazda MX-5 and the current generation VW Polo have now their boarding pass: LSD wing doors that can be mounted directly, without any welding or repainting.

Since the launch of its first generation in 1989, the Mazda MX-5 sportscar was a real money-spinner for the Japanese automaker, becoming, not only the best sold roadster for 15 years, but also the inspiration for a new wave of similarly sized competitors - although at higher prices - which followed since the nineties, such as the BMW Z3 and its Z4 successor, the Porsche Boxter, Audi's TT and the Mercedes-Benz SLK, all of which are now in their second generation.

For the new Mazda MX-5 model (launched last year), LSD is putting its own icing on the Japanese cake, with a pair of wing doors.

On the same occasion, but for a different audience, the German tuner is also offering another pair of wings to the subcompact VW Polo 9N (current generation since 2001, with a facelift from spring 2005).

LSD door fittings come with a German TÜV certificate confirming that their wing doors meet all safety standards. The tuning specialist adds that a testing laboratory accredited by the German Kraftfahrtbundesamt (Federal motoring bureau) proved in a side-crash test that the LSD-solution patented in Germany is as secure as a door assembled in the series production. This means that the occupants safety is guaranteed by the LSD door fittings in a side-crash complying with rule 96/27/EG.

On the practical side, LSD makes a quick and easy installation possible, without any welding or repainting necessary, thanks to their perfect fit with the three-dimensional adjustments.

The LSD door fittings are mounted directly at the points where the original doors were removed. With the added fittings, the otherwise unchanged doors open first outward and then gently glide upward and stop.

Adjustable buffers prevent the doors from being opened too wide or from falling downward or inward when open.

A simple grip is all it takes to close the door. On the one hand, the LSD solution allows to open the door in a outward motion with an aperture angle of approx. 30°; on the other hand, it also allows to swing the wing door upward without any great exertion.

The LSD door fittings are available from LSD or special dealers. They cover a wide range of current and previous generation models from most carmakers (currently available for over 70 vehicle types).

To get an idea, the LSD door fittings cost in Germany (incl. 16% VAT) €1,499 for the Mazda MX-5 (Miata in the U.S.), the current VW Polo as well as the Citroen C4, or €1,699 for the BMW M3 (E46).
