Facelifted Daihatsu Charade gets
Equipment and handling upgrades

Daihatsu Charade city car - front side view.

Charade: standard air-conditioning and front seats lengthened by 30 mm.

24th May 2006.

Small cars specialist Daihatsu is launching its revised Charade city car with improved handling and comfort equipment

Based on the previous 1.0 litre EL model, the UK range comprises a three or five-door manual or automatic starting at 6,460 on-the-road. The SL models have been dropped.

Standard equipment now includes air-conditioning, the interior trim is new and the front seats have been lengthened by 30 mm for improved support.

Also new is the front grille and bumper, while the suspension has been thoroughly revised with a front anti-roll bar and retuned dampers to reduce body roll and sharpen handling.

To further improve braking performance, the front discs are now ventilated.

As before, the anti-lock brakes (ABS) incorporate electronic brake force distribution (EBD) which optimises braking force according to the weight distribution of passengers and luggage.

The Charade remains the UKs most economical petrol-engined five-door with a CO2 reading of 114 g/km. This qualifies it for a 40 Road Fund Licence for 12 months.

Fuel economy is also exceptional at 68.9 mpg (4.10 litre/100 km, or 24.9 km per litre) in extra urban cycle for the manual which also boasts a top speed of almost 100 mph (160 km/h).

Apart from air-conditioning and ABS with EBD, all Charades come with driver and passenger airbags, electric front windows and door mirrors, central locking and a radio/CD player.

Like all current Daihatsu models in the UK, the Charade comes with a three year unlimited mileage warranty and roadside assistance plus a six year anti-perforation warranty.

Charade prices (on-the-road) start with the manual version at 6,460.00 for the 1.0 litre 3-door, followed by the 5-door at 6,960.00. Automatic Charade comes at 7,215.00 for the 3-door and 7,715.00 for the 5-door.
