Lamborghini style wing doors are now available for the new BMW 1-series E82 coupe and E88 convertible.

The LSD door hinge comes complete with TÜV (German safety standards institute) parts certificate, confirming their compliance with all safety standards.

LSD says that its fittings, which are made in Germany, are more impressive than other retrofit sets for wing doors, due to highly precise engineering and the highest-possible standard of quality.

Additionally, a testing laboratory accredited by the German Kraftfahrtbundesamt (Federal motoring bureau) proved in a side-crash test that the LSD-solution patented in Germany is as secure as a door assembled in the series production. Hence, the passengers safety is guaranteed by the LSD door fittings in a side-crash complying with rule 96/27/EG.

LSD makes installation quick and easy, without any welding or repainting. The LSD door fittings are mounted directly at the points where the original doors were removed. With the added fittings, the otherwise unchanged doors open first outward and then gently glide upward and stop.

Adjustable buffers prevent the doors from being opened too wide or from falling downward or inward when open. A simple grip is all it takes to close the door. The LSD solution allows to open the door in an outward motion with an aperture angle of approx. 30°; it also allows to swing the wing door upward, without great exertion.

Once the wing doors are fixed, one can take another look, but this time, under the beautiful dress of the BMW 1-series coupé, as KW suspensions announce their Variants 1, 2 and 3 stainless steel constructed coil over for the 1-series E82 coupé.

KW says that safety, quality and performance are all taken into consideration with each KW coil over design. Each vehicle application is specifically designed and engineered for a proper range of motion, min/max weight loads and min/max lowering. These requirements are met while retaining the car's performance handling characteristics.

Each coil over suspension is produced with stainless steel “inox-line” technology. The stainless steel construction internally and externally provides long term durability and corrosion resistance from the elements.

The KW coil over suspensions for the 1-series E82 coupé enables the owner to lower the vehicle 30-55 mm (1.2-2.2 inches) on the front axle and 25-50 mm (1.0-2.0 inches) on the rear axle, while retaining enough travel to handle maximum load and dynamic loads during driving.

The tuning specialist indicates that Variant 1 is intended for customers wishing to rely on the experience of KW engineers. Yet, it allows to determine the degree of lowering. The dampers are set for the best balance between spirited driving, comfort and safety.

Variant 2 is targeted to drivers with more sporty tastes, who also wish to make modifications in ride height and rebound dampening. The adjustable rebound damper allows adjustment of the pitch and roll behaviour of the vehicle, adapting it to one’s own driving style.

Variant 3 permits an even higher degree of suspension customisation. Adjustable (and independent reacting) rebound and compression damping allows a truly individual performance driving setup for those technically demanding drivers. Compression dampening adjustment is conducted in the low-speed range, while the high-speed set-up, so decisive for driving comfort, has been pre-set by KW engineers.

KW coil overs pass German TUV safety and quality testing standards. Each kit is sold TUV approved.

Besides wing doors and KW coil over tuning options, the new BMW premium compact sports car gets other flavours for the convertible version from the H&R tuners.

Even before the official launch at retail outlets, H&R-Spezialfedern, the sport suspension kits specialist, introduces the Sunset Boulevard look and feel to the BMW 1 series convertible, or cabriolet if you prefer.

For sports drivers who love cruiser comfort, H&R specialists recommend lowering by 35 mm using the new H&R spring set. For a sportier feel, there is the 50 mm spring set. Both sets make the new BMW convertible look more dynamic... even when parked.

For the 135i top model with 306 HP and 400 Nm, H&R offer a coil over which allows for optimised axle load distribution, and can be adjusted in height at the front and rear axles, increasing driving fun.

The coil over can be combined with the optional H&R stabilisers, spicing up the power of the sporty convertible with more driver pleasure. Alternatively, TRAK+ wheel spacers made of a special high-strength aluminium alloy, can be added to widen the stance, with original or tuner wheels. They do away with the offset between the tire shoulder and the wing edge.
