Carlsson personalisation programs for Smart and Mercedes-Benz
From the Fortwo to the 565hp CK63S and 756hp CK65RS

Carlsson selection for Mrecedes-Benz and Smart models.

APN,
15 December 2008.

Carlsson has recently announced a series of programs for new and recent models from the Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands.

Starting from the second generation Smart Fortwo, the smallest car in the Daimler AG vehicle range, Carlsson extends it programs further to cover several models from the tristar brand, including the Mercedes-Benz CK63, CK65RS.

Carlsson 1/11 Evo BE wheel set: 7.0J x 16 / 7.5J x 17.

Smart Fortwo - The Smart Fortwo changes make it an even more sporty and individual runabout, starting from a set of new, light and strong alloy wheels to complement the agile handling of the car.

The Carlsson 1/11 Evo BE wheel is sold as a set of four with 7.0J x 16-inch and 7.5J x 17-inch sizes front and rear, with a polished, then high-gloss varnish coated surface. Carlsson recommend 195/45R16 tyres in front and either 215/35R17 or 205/40R17 tyres at the rear.

Lower centre of gravity and wider tracks for a crisper response.

Sport springs lower the ride height by around 25mm, and in combination with the larger wheels and tyres, the car takes on a more rugged, foursquare stance. The lower centre of gravity and wider tracks give crisper steering response, lower roll and better cornering ability.

Carlsson say that the increasing mechanical grip is particularly beneficial at the front axle as the standard car is prone to understeer when pushed hard into tight bends.

Stainless-steel silencer with four polished exit pipes.

The Carlsson aerodynamic styling additions give the Smart Fortwo a more purposeful look, with a polyurethane front spoiler which attaches to the standard bumper, complemented by an electro-polished, stainless-steel grill insert and fog lights with chrome surrounds.

At the rear, a new valance moulded from OEM quality polyurethane incorporates a diffuser, offered in combination with a stainless-steel rear silencer and four polished exit pipes for the 84hp turbocharged motor, and as an end-pipe only system for the 61 and 71bhp versions.

Only available for petrol-engined Fortwo variants, this exhaust upgrade delivers a deeper, more sporting note.

While Carlsson special leathers and fabrics are available on request for individual customers, the Smart Fortwo interior programme at this time consists of an aluminium pedal set and handbrake grip.

Carlsson CK63 S - For the top version of the upper medium (D segment, midsize category) Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Carlsson engineers believe that the 6.3 litre V8 engine still has other hidden potentials for the C 63 AMG.

Carlsson CK63, Mercedes-Benz C-class, front picture.

The Carlsson CK63 performance kit for the C-class increases the standard performance of the 6.3 litre V8 from 457hp to 565hp, while torque increases from 600 to 685 Nm, to settle the 0-100 km/h in a matter of 3.8 seconds.

With up to 565hp, the Carlsson CK63 offers its competitors a very attractive perspective to its stainless steel end pipes, immediately after showing them, in a blink, its new wheels and even more sporty aerodynamics, as refined by Carlsson.

The Carlsson CK63 performance kit for the motor type M156 increases the standard performance of the 6.3 litre V8 from 457hp (336 kW) at 6,800 rpm up to 565hp/ 415 kW, while torque increases from 600 to 685 Nm, to finish with the 0-100 km/h in a matter of 3.8 seconds, 0.7 seconds before the standard CK63.

All kits include a special motor electronics adaptation, a maximum speed increase up to 300 km/h (electronically limited), a sport air filter and a special three-part Carlsson motor cover made of real carbon, as well as the essential Carlsson nameplate in chrome.

The Carlsson sport rear muffler from the 565 hp strong CK63 S-kit brings with its special sound, 15 extra hp.

Carlsson limits the endless thrust at 300 km/h for all models with an electronic device. The Carlsson sport rear muffler from the 565 hp strong CK63 S-kit brings with its special sound, 15 extra hp (11 kW).

Co-developed with Ellen Lohr, the Carlsson RS coil-over kit offers a step-less height adjustment. With the individually adjustable damping characteristics, the driver can regulate the setup according to his / her preference, from a roadworthy comfort up to racing for top speeds on a racetrack.

Carlsson options include a sport steering wheel, leather interiors or multi-media accessories.

To ensure that the extra performance is not smoked by crazy tyres, Carlsson recommends fitting its torque sensitive, multiplate limited-slip-differential with mechanically variable lock-up (produced with lock-up values according to customer requirements). This increases both traction and driving stability, especially when accelerating in bends.

On the aerodynamics side, the Carlsson styling kit consists of a front spoiler, the front spoiler lip and a Carlsson rear spoiler (with an imprinted Carlsson logo) which enhances stability at higher speeds. All accessories are made of high-quality polyurethane or (optionally) from real carbon.

Below, the Carlsson light alloy wheels 1/16 UL are focused on a weight optimisation. All force effects on the wheel are led into the wheel spider by the regular distribution of spokes. This avoids an over-dimensioned wall thickness and helps bring weight down.

Carlsson design customisation covers all visible surfaces.

Thanks to the latest forging technology, the induced forces in metal compression are forwarded in a far more homogenous way than with a cast wheel, leading to a weight reduction of 38% compared to ordinary wheels with a similar wheel load and dimension. Therefore, the unsprung masses are held as low as possible. The forged Carlsson wheel 1/16 Ultra Light is available in the sizes 8,5x19“ (FA+RA) and 10x19“ (only RA) for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

Other Carlsson customisation options include a sport steering wheel, leather interiors or multi-media accessories.

S-class RS design kit - The Mercedes-Benz S-class has also its own rights in customisation, as Carlsson gave it a new high-quality RS-design kit in either real carbon, or in polyurethane (PU).

The exclusive overall package gives the S-class long version (internal production name V221) a more sportive appearance.

The extended carbon kit consists of selected components. An integrated front apron and front spoiler lips enhance the sportive overall appearance, with a round Carlsson emblem for the front hood and characteristic grille insert.

The four-pipe sport end muffler was especially developed by Carlsson with double-walled, heat-insulated end pipes and has a streamlined design made of stainless steel.

A set of especially curved side skirts with stainless steel grille inserts give the sides a more dynamic look. For road safety during day and night, there are four additional high-quality lights (fog lights and full beam).

Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition.

Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS ”Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition - Moving a few steps upwards in terms of power and sports, Carlsson extends its co-operation with the leather lifestyle brand Etienne Aigner AG to bring the Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS “Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition. For the connoisseurs, the only bad news is that production is limited to just... ten cars.

The luxury coupé is available with either a 705 hp V12 Bi-Turbo, or a second power level with 756 hp and 1,150 Nm.

Both the front skirt with a front spoiler are made of solid carbon, while the car paint catches the eye with its two-coloured contrasts. The special line Dark Edition of Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS “Eau Rouge“ is exclusively available in the double-coloured combination obsidian black metallic with Himalaya-grey. Shaded Bi-Xenon headlights with cone-shaped lights and the radiator grill with the jumping Carlsson horse round up the front appearance.

The sides are dominated by the three-part forged rims in 21”. The glazed finished surface of the light alloy rims manufactured in forged technology, offers an masterful appearance.

The electrically adjustable sport seats with multi-contour function and seat heating have been upholstered with high-class leather by Aigner. The ergonomically shaped Carlsson sport steering wheel comes in a leather/alcantara combination, while the Carlsson sport aluminium pedal pads and illuminated door sill protectors, as well as other optical refinements guide the way into a special luxury that is priced from 319,000 euros.

The wooden appliqués were adjusted to the colour of the car paint and all visible plastic parts were covered with noble Aigner leather. The special Aigner "A" (see photos), embossed in the front headrests and the reverse side of the front seats, confirm the exclusive origin.

The Carlsson sport exhaust system boosts output with a specially powerful sound. The rear section of the Carlsson Aigner CK65 is dominated by four end pipes. Compared to the serial exhaust system, the exhaust back pressure and pipe guide are optimised. Therewith, Carlsson improves torque and performance.

The Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition has its own identity and profile, both inside out. The front spoilers and rear skirt lip are designed in the typical Carlsson diffuser look and the striking rear spoiler also improves handling the luxury coupé at high speeds. The exclusive Carlsson aerodynamics parts are made of high-class and ultra-light solid carbon, a material which is mainly used in the Formula 1.

Carlsson Aigner CK65: 705 or 756hp V12 Bi-Turbo.

For the Carlsson Aigner CK65, an exclusive electronic lowering C-Tronic suspension kit is offered, to lower the car by approx. 30 mm. In addition to lowering the centre of gravity, it also allows an intelligent interaction with the conditions on the road. When the latter are bad and generate continuously strong deflections, the height of the vehicle is automatically adjusted and the necessary remaining spring deflection is maintained. The driver can feel the effects of the C-Tronic lowering by a reduced curl and significantly more agile driving characteristics.

Moreover, the C-Tronic suspension guarantees that even when driving faster than 120 km/h, the standard maximum lowering is not undercut. The air resistance and the lifting forces are lowered, as less air is flowing under the vehicle.

The Carlsson engine makeover includes special electronic mapping for fuel injection and ignition. At the intake side, special sport air filters deliver optimal ventilation. A sport exhaust system made of stainless steel optimises the exhaust back pressure. The V12 Carlsson Aigner CK65 ”Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition with 756 hp offers an electronically regulated maximum speed of 335 km/h, with an acceleration from naught to 100 in 3.8 seconds.

The many opportunities Carlsson offers for individual customisation include tailor-made modifications such as Carlsson sport running gears, engines, break systems, wheel-tyre combinations, limited slip differentials or also individual Carlsson Aigner interior designs and unique automobile pieces.

Prices for the Carlsson Aigner CK65 ”Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition with V12 start from 319,000 euros (705hp), or from 374,000 euros for the V12 with Carlsson-Bi-Turbo in the second power stage (756hp and 1,150 Nm).
