Minagi concept: forerunner to Mazda’s upcoming products.

20 January 2011: Mazda Motor Corporation will present the world premičre of its new Minagi compact crossover SUV concept car at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show (Salon International de l’Auto de Genčve, public days from 3 to 13 March, at the Geneva Palexpo complex).

Mazda says that the Minagi concept fully embraces its new Skyactiv technologies and new design theme, Kodo (Soul of Motion).

More practically, the Japanese brand adds that this concept is the "forerunner to the launch of Mazda’s upcoming next-generation products and symbolises the evolution of the Mazda brand as it begins a new era".

The Minagi compact crossover SUV concept combines Mazda’s Skyactiv technologies (aim to merge driving pleasure with environmental and safety performance) with the Kodo design (symbolises energy and vitality).

Mazda's Skyactiv technology exhibits will include the Skyactiv-G (direct injection gasoline engine), Skyactiv-D (clean diesel engine), Skyactiv-Drive (automatic transmission) and Skyactiv-MT (manual transmission).

Hence, Minagi is equipped with a Skyactiv engine and Skyactiv transmission fitted to a Skyactiv-Body and chassis for weight reduction with advanced safety features.

Mazda’s stand at the Geneva show will also feature new Skyactiv technology exhibits and the Mazda Shinari design concept car (European premičre), among its range of products (Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda5, Mazda6, Mazda MX-5, Mazda CX-7 and Mazda BT-50).
