Hyundai Theta II GDI engine cover in the new 2015 Sonata
Hyundai's revised Theta II GDI engine in the 2015 Sonata.

Hyundai's four-cylinder engine lineup for the 2015 Sonata, includes the revised 2.4-litre Theta II GDI for the SE, Limited and Sport models. The maximal output is 185 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 178 lb. ft. (241 Nm, 24.6 Kg-m) of (max.) torque at 4000 rpm.

The also revised 2.0-litre Theta II turbocharged GDI powers the Sport 2.0T models. It produces 245 horsepower and 260 lb. ft. of torque (352 Nm, 35.9 Kg-m). The turbocharger features a smaller turbine and compressor wheel, to reduce turbo lag and enhance responsiveness in the low to mid RPM range.

Both engines feature a new Electronic Intake Continuously Variable Valve Timing (E-CVVT), which is designed to enhance performance and emissions reduction in low temperatures.

The 1.6-litre turbo Gamma engine of the Sonata Eco version, develops an estimated maximal output of 177 horsepower and 195 lb. ft. of torque (264 Nm, 27 Kg-m). More about the 2015 Sonata Eco.

More about the announced engines, transmissions, fuel consumption figures  as well as the theoretical driving range with a full fuel tank (in U.S., imperial and metric conversions).

Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by the Hyundai Assurance program, which includes a 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable new vehicle limited warranty, Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and five years of complimentary Roadside Assistance.
