To be named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for the second consecutive year, the 2014 Ford C-MAX Hybrid must have its reasons. After all, there are plenty of good cars around, including other compact hybrids of course.
This result has been achieved as the organization performed multiple crash tests on the C-MAX Hybrid, resulting in a “good” rating in side crash, roof strength, restraint and seating evaluations.
Contributing to these results with a rating of “good” in moderate overlap front, side, head restraint and seating tests, the C-MAX Hybrid safety features include standard driver and passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, safety canopy system, antilock brakes (ABS), AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, SOS Post Crash Alert System, MyKey and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Other optionally available driver-assist features include a rearview camera, active park assist, a forward sensing system, reverse sensing system and rain-sensing wipers.
On other daily practical side, the compact (lower medium, M1, C-segment) 2014 C-MAX offers 99.7 cubic feet (2823 liters) of passenger volume, with interesting features such as SmartGauge with EcoGuide, integrated blind spot mirrors, Active Grille Shutters, dual-zone automatic temperature control and Easy Fuel capless fuel filler, in addition to the optionally available options such as the hands-free liftgate and the leather-trimmed seats.
