Czech carmaker Škoda Auto a.s. has just started the production of its all-new, third-generation Fabia small car model at the brands parent plant in Mladá Boleslav, prior to its market launch this November.
The VW-owned brand describes its completely new Fabia as innovative in safety, comfort and infotainment systems, with low fuel consumption.
Belonging to the B-segment (small car, suprmini, subcompact), a volume reference par excellence in Europe, Skoda expects its new Fabia to be an important pillar in the brand's growth strategy.
With about 3.4 million vehicles sold to date worldwide, Fabia is Skoda's bestselling model after the Octavia. Between 1999 and 2006, 1.8 million first-generation Fabias were sold. From 2006 to date, around 1.7 million second-generation Fabias were delivered to customers.
As far as the new one is concerned, Skoda defines the 2015 Fabia as ‘simply more car’, the same mission given to the model since its first generation, before it evolved into a more expressive and emotionally-rich design language, with neat proportions, shape and lines. Being aimed primarily at a young and / or dynamic audiences constantly on the move around cities, the new Fabia also promises a bigger potential for customisation, inside and out.
On the infotainment front, the new Fabia can be paired with a smartphone via MirrorLink technology. The new range of engines should make the third-generation model the most ecological and economical Fabia to date. Skoda says that compared to the previous model, the new Fabia consumes up to 17 per cent less fuel.
